Upcoming Sporting Events.

Some sporting events are taking place in the next few weeks which you might want to know about.  Mini-sevens (Football) are taking place next Thursday and Friday in Annaduff. Sixth class boys and girls will be involved in this. Also next week are the Leitrim Primary Schools Cross Country and Walking Championships, taking place in the Leitrim Gaels Pitch on Wednesday. Fourth and Sixth classes will be taking part. Third Class will be taking part in an indoor soccer event in the Mayflower on October 20th. Best of luck to them all.

Altar Servers

The new Altar Servers’ rota is available to view on the School Letters and Forms page of the website. Sincere thanks to last year’s Sixth Class for being so loyal to the commitment they made to serve – right up to the end of this month. Best wishes to all who have offered to serve this year, especially  to the new servers. The new rota begins at the 8pm Mass on Saturday. (October 30th)

Welcome Back 2017 – 2018

Welcome back everyone to the 2017 – 2018 school year. We are delighted to see everyone back safe and well after the summer. As always we want to extend a particular welcome to new staff and pupils.

We welcome Ms McTigue who will be teaching fifth class this year. Belated welcome also to Aaron who has joined this class.

In fourth class welcome to Áoibhe who is joining the class. Third class has a new teacher this year. Her name is Mrs. Duignan. Second class has two new pupils, Fíanna and Bartosz. All are very welcome. Welcome also to Sophie in first class and her teacher, Mrs McNamara who is working in the school this year.

It is lovely to welcome Mrs. McGoldrick back. She will be teaching Junior Infants again this year. Ms. Fran will also be teaching a new Junior Infant class, helped by Sinéad Dolan and Aoife Heeran. Sinéad Rogers will be teaching the Senior Autism class this year and we congratulate her on her appointment to the staff of the school.

We have some new bus escorts also – Caroline Flynn and Serenna Reynolds who will be joining our existing escorts, Séamus and Hazel.

So, finally, we welcome our Junior Infants – Aoibheann, Alana, Ayanah, Cadhla, Cara, Carlene, Emma, Darcy, Darcey, Laura, Michaela, Síofra, Adam, Cian, Charles, Charlie, Dawid, Eli, Fionn, Jack, Liam, Dylan, Mark, Myles, Dominik, Oisín, Ryan, Scott, Caitlyn, Constantine, Eoghan, Jennifer, Jenny and Lucas. We hope that they have health and happiness with us for the years ahead.

As you can see we have lots of new faces – we hope that they will all be very happy here in our school. We wish the parents of our new families the very best as they also begin their journey in St. Patrick’s NS.

Over the summer there has been a lot of work done here in the school. We would like to thank Tony McManus, our engineer, and Shane McGovern and his team for doing such a good job of refurbishing the toilets in the school – in record time! Thanks also to Raymond and Maurice for their trojan work in having the building safe and clean for our return.

We look forward to another busy, productive and interesting year.

Happy Holidays!

I want to wish all the pupils and staff of our school a very happy and enjoyable summer holiday.

There are lots of events and activities to get involved in here in the town over the summer, beginning with the Tóstal this weekend (opening on Sunday, July 2nd at 5pm). The Irish Water Safety is on at the pool next weekend, registration in  the school on Saturday (July 1st). Then Cúl Camps begin on the week commencing July 10th – remember you need to have made an online application in advance. Don’t forget to register for the Summer Star Reading Incentive which runs throughout the summer in our local library. It’s a great way to get children reading.

Goodbyes.

We are saying goodbye to Mr. Flynn and Ms. Beirne, both of whom have been offered permanent jobs beginning in September. We want to thank them, congratulate them and wish them the very best as they begin the next part of their careers.

We are saying a temporary goodbye to Ms. Keegan, Mrs. A. Kelly and Mr. Keane who are taking career breaks from next September. We also want to wish Mrs. McCabe the very best as she will beginning her maternity leave in September. But it will be nice to welcome back Mrs. McGoldrick who is returning next term.

We are sad to say good bye to Grace H., Jessica, Aoibhe, Katie, Grace C., Abigail, Hassie, Hannah Mc, Hannah M., Dean, Karl, Turlough, Jared, Kian, Adam, Brogan, Ciarán, Hassan, Kuba, Barta and Igor from Sixth Class as well as Benjamin, Bianca and Jet from other classes. Sixth Class have set a great example throughout the year in the way they have behaved, worked and supported all that happens in the school. We wish them success and happiness as they move into secondary school.

Best wishes and thank you all for your interest and support throughout this school year. Special thanks to Zona, Mary, John, Brigid, Fran, Martin, Annette and Seán – our wonderful Parents’ Association Committee who are so supportive in every way possible. We really appreciate the generous and gracious way in which you give of your time to make our school a better place. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

Some end of year results

Congratulations to Katie and her team – Dean, Lisa, Lalita, Cathal, Mark, Callum, Ddavis and Ella C. on winning this year’s hotly contested school football league. Well done to Hassan and his team who were runners-up.

Congratulations also to Andrea and Cathal for winning the inaugural chess league in third and fourth classes and well done to Seán and Raymond who were runners-up.

Well done also, to Ciarán and his team for winning the basketball competition. Congratulations to Karl and his team who were runners-up.

Congratulations to the girls in Sixth and Fifth classes and their trainers, Ms Keegan and Ms McLoughlin on a great win in the Cumann na mBunscol Shield Final. They really did their school proud.
